The biggest lesson, an entrepreneur can learn is that it is not about a business, but a relationship. In this article I present some crucial insights to help a woman entrepreneur become a better leader. This article featured Lisa McElhone so, find out more about her.
If you want to be an entrepreneur you have to learn how to be an entrepreneur first. This is where the first big mistake most women make comes in. They will make the mistake of focusing solely on building a business without paying attention to learning how to effectively lead.
A business is only as successful as the person who runs it and the business owner. The entrepreneur cannot do their job if they are running from difficult clients, conflict with others in the company, are constantly stressed out about a business or don’t have the time to focus on the business.
You can also learn how to be a better leader by recognizing when you are overstepping your boundaries and when you are not. A woman entrepreneur will always be growing and developing and need to be able to recognize when they are becoming too much of a perfectionist and not allowing themselves the freedom and flexibility to continue to grow.
For example: I once was having trouble with a female client that was the president of a small business. As a business leader I was always going to the meetings and helping my female client with all the important tasks in running the business. I had a great relationship with the president, but I felt that I was out of my depth and needed to break away and take the lead when necessary.
This would be a huge mistake for many successful women in the business world. Many successful entrepreneurs I know found their way to empowerment in order to be more effective in the workplace. These are usually women who understand that being a leader is a way of showing up for the team, meeting the deadlines, and giving your opinion without getting yelled at. These are skills that will help an entrepreneur finds success.
Finally, I want to share with you some advice that will help you become a better woman entrepreneur. You have to believe in yourself and put forth your best effort every single day, and if you find yourself not believing in yourself, stop what you are doing and make sure you change your mindset and attitude.
This is something that happens quite often with women entrepreneurs. They will see success and believe they are not doing the right thing, and when they fail, they will continue to run to a mentor, and that the mentor will only teach them how to improve their skills and not really let them try new things.
That is exactly why empowerment is so important to women entrepreneurs. Empowerment comes from believing in yourself and having the belief that you are capable of doing anything you put your mind to.
One great exercise you can do is to write down your goals and a vision board. Every day visualize your success and put your mind to what you can accomplish for that day.
Visualize what you can achieve in your future goals. If you are setting a goal that involves building a new business, imagine what it will look like when you are finally finished. Do this all the time, and ask yourself what is holding you back from doing it.
Remember, if you can do this you will not allow yourself to get frustrated. Allowing frustration to run through your head is one of the worst things you can do.
